You’ll fall with the charm of Hwarangs or the flower elite knights of Silla Kingdom! (I wish I could have one!!! HUHUH) Aside from my love Park Seo Joon, I’m loving Minho who played the role of Soo Ho!! All the members of this elite team are so adorable that my heart could not help flattering! Seriously, I so love this drama series!!
It has 20 episodes. It’s so good that I almost want to finish it in a day. Oh, I forget to tell you, the emotion that the story brings is like a roller coaster, you’ll laugh (extremely), feel in love and suddenly burst out of tears!!! Yeah, I couldn’t help crying. How the scenario was created and the choice of song makes you feel how painful the situation is. It’s so effective that my tears couldn’t stop ( tissue please :’( ). Naiiyak pa rin ako pag naaalala ko huhu.
The story of Hwarang teaches teamwork despite differences, true friendship between enemies, true love, perseverance, courage, bravery, leadership and forgiveness. The main character played by Park Seo Joon taught a lot of lessons. I couldn’t forget his line there which is, “No path started as a path. Someone must walk on it for it to become a path.” It’s inspiring.

PLOT/SUMMARY OF HWARANG
*Two Peasants Enter the Capital City
The two peasants Moo Myung (Park Seo Joon) and Mak-Moon(Lee Kwang-Soo) enter the forbidden place for them, the capital city in search for Mak Moon’s family. When peasant are caught entering the capital, they will be killed. But fortunately, the two managed to get in safely.
But along their search, Mak Moon got killed because he accidentally saw the face of the King, who is still not revealed to any person in the Silla Kingdom. The Queen’s commandant slays the two. Luckily Moo Myung( known as Dog-Bird) survived. Before Mak Moon died, he finally met his father, Master An Ji-Gong, a respected doctor in the capital. He saved Moo Myung but failed to save his son.
After that, Moo Myung live as Sun Woo, replacing the deceased son of Master An Ji for him to live peacefully in the capital and execute his revenge to whoever killed his best friend.
*Living in Master An Ji-Gong’s House
Moo Myung recovered from several wounds caused by the commandant’s sword. But he grieved so much for losing his dearest friend. He believed the person behind his friend’s death is the King of Silla. Living in master An Ji’s house, he met the dearest sister of Mak Moon, whom he promised to protect.
Master An-Ji introduced Moo Myung as her lost brother, whom they’re searching for a long time. Ah- Ro is suspicious about the revelation and don’t believe in it easily.
*The Creation of Hwarang
To protect the royal family against the threat, the Queen together with Wi Hwa Kong (who became the Chief Instructor of Hwarang) created the elite charming warriors who are noted to be the future of Silla Kingdom.
The palace announces the search for applicant willing to be a Hwarang. For the Warriors to be an effective defense, the Queen wants the children of high officials to join the team. Since the officials will impossibly permit it, Wi Hwa Kong plots a trap for the children to join the Hwarang.
He successfully did it. The group of Ban Ryu, the adopted son of Park Young-Sil, the highest official and Soo Ho’s friends commit to becoming a Hwarang.

*The Queen Wants Moo Myung to Enter Into Hwarang
In the Queen’s parade, Moo Myung saw the commandant who killed his friend and quickly attacks him but he lost it. Creating an act of disgrace against the Queen, Master An Ji (his friend’s true father), beg for his life and ask the Queen to take his life instead. They are both taken into the palace.
The Queen threatened Moo Myung to kill Master An Ji and his sister (the sister his best friend). But he could save them if he would join the Hwarang.
*The Faceless King of Silla Joined Hwarang without the Queens’s Knowledge
Hiding in the dark for a very long time, the young King of Silla who is unknown to the world seeks his way to fight and be able to fly on his own through joining to the elite warriors. He manages to convince the Chief Instructor to take him in without revealing his true identity. He introduces himself as Ji Dwi.
*The Clash between Hwarangs- The Bone Ranking System
Due to differences in so-called bone ranking system as well as differences in personalities, Hwarangs have always had huge fights. Moo Myung is mostly the subject of conflict since he’s a half-breed or born by a true bone father and peasant mother. In the eyes of the adopted son and a son of a high ranking official like Ban Ryu, eating and having Moo Myung (famous as “Dog- Bird”) as a roommate is irritating since he belongs to a lower rank.
But with the strong personality of Moo Myung, he survived and even become an inspiration for others. He’s courageous, brave and has an admiring principle or belief. In his eyes, unlike bone-ranking system, everyone is equal. He also has a benevolent care for the poor and other suffering people.
In one of the tests for Hwarang, he even answered a striking line to ponder. He said, “, “No path started as a path. Someone must walk on it for it to become a path.” And if ever the water doesn’t flow to one portion, one must pierce it harder for the water to flow into it.
*A-Ro Discovers That Sun Woo (Park Seo Joon ) Is Not His Brother
With the greatness and attitude that Sun Woo displays, A-Ro slowly falls for his “brother”. But he eventually discovered that he’s just acting as one. She became confused because after all that she knew, there’s a part in her that becomes happy knowing the truth.
*The Queen Calls the Princess in Hwarang House
Since Wi Hwa Kong, the Chief instructor seemingly has the full grip or control of her perceived dogs, the Hwarang, she asks the Princess to return and help Wi Hwa in managing Hwarang. She’s as cold as the Queen.
*Avoiding War- the Delegates from Silla
A threat of war came. In order to avoid misunderstanding and war against the neighboring nation, Baekje, a representatives or delegates from Silla are sent to Baekje for amity with the gold and silk offering.
The delegates are headed by the princess guarded by the Hwarangs who volunteered. Knowing that the princess brought Ah Ro as her Physician, Moo Myung or Sun Woo and the King hiding under name of Ji Dwi decided to join the dangerous amity mission. Ban Ryu and Soo Ho also joined.
Sending delegates to Baekje is a dangerous thing. Many even think that the delegates will be taken as hostages and will be killed.
*The Amity Offering Was Stolen
On their way to Baekje, the Amity offering, the silk, and gold were entirely stolen by the poor farmers due to starvation. The delegates have no other options but to continue their way to Baekje.
*Ah- Ro Was Detained By Baekje Kingdom
The delegates arrived safely to Baekje. The Crown Prince and the Princess finally converse about the misunderstanding between the two nations. But the conversation doesn't go well. The Crown Prince wants to marry the Princess despite already having several wives. Since they don’t have brought gold and other stuff, that’s the condition he wanted for the success of amity.
On the other hand, Ah Ro was accused of theft causing the Baekje soldiers to detain her. Sun Woo (Dog- Bird), knowing that her “sister’’ is in trouble, attempted to save her and clear the misunderstanding. Other Hwarangs also joined him. Unfortunately, they are also detained making the Princess furious.
The Princess has suffered insult from the Crown Prince and her supposed guards, the Hwarangs are detained due to a physician. But then, Sun Woo advised her to say what she wants and don’t just do what the Prince wanted. She took Sun Woo’s advice.
>Sun Woo to the Princess:
“If you think it is unjust, you should fight. Especially if that is for the people. If it is unjust, you should not endure it. But fix it. You came on behalf of Silla. Then do not be afraid. Do not blame others. Say it yourself.
*The Letter Received By the Crown Prince
Before Ban Ryu leaves the palace together with Silla delegates, his father, Park Young-Sil, ordered him to send a letter to the Crown Prince. It tells that the faceless King is one of the Hwarangs, included in the delegates.
“I am the King of Silla!”
Knowing that the King is in the Crown Prince’s Kingdom, the Prince wanted to know who he/she is among them. In order to reveal the King, all the detained thieves from Silla is lined for execution. The King was given 15 minutes to step forward in order to save the first group in line to be executed. But within less than the desired time, the Baekje soldiers killed them. The second time, 8 minutes was given and this time, Ah Ro is already included in the group that will be executed.
The time was running. Ji Dwi is ready to step forward but Sun Woo shouted before he could step his foot.
“I am… the King! “
“I am… the King of Silla”, Sun Woo shouted.
*Sun Woo Defeated the Crown Prince in Their Agreed Battle
After claiming to be the King and conversing to the crown prince, the two ended up in an agreement. If Sun Woo will win, the delegates will be home safely. But if he loses, the delegates will die including the detained citizens of Silla.

“I wish you would act like a crown prince. You take unarmed delegates of peace as a hostage and want to swallow Silla whole. Who would deem you as the crown prince? I doubt the King of Baekje, your father, would commend you.
”
*Sun Woo Won the Battle
Sun Woo won the battle and the delegates were permitted to go home safely. But the detained people of Silla including Ah Ro will remain to Baekje according to the prince. Sun Woo wanted to save his “sister’s life and attack the Baekje soldiers. But Ji Dwi stops him and create a better plan.
*The Plan to Save Ah Ro and others
When the Silla delegates leave Baekje, Sun Woo and Ji Dwi remained to save the detained people of Silla. The two succeeded together with the help of the other two Hwarangs. The prisoners flee with the Hwarangs but the Crown Prince hunts them killing some of the Silla prisoners.
Soo Ho is also wounded catching the arrow for Sun Woo, the mistaken King. But at the helpless situation where Silla delegates’ life is at stake, the elite warriors of Silla came to the rescue. The troops of the Crown Prince backed out.
*The Rumor on Sun Woo Being the King Is Strengthen
After the bravery done by Sun Woo, the suspicion on him being the true King strengthen. The Queen planned to make him stand or act as the fake King through making his love, Ah Ro as one of the head of Hwarang, a Wonhwa.
*The King Revealed Himself to the Palace Officials
The Queen’s disease became worse. The officials also urge the Queen to step down the throne since the rumored King displays bravery during the amity. But behind this is a plan to switch the King. The highest official who’s against the Queen’s regime wants Sun Woo for the position. But King Jinheung revealed himself that moment.
*Disrespecting the King
The side opposing the Queen’s regime conspire to replace the King. Park Young-Sil and his group want Sun Woo to be the King since he possessed strength and leadership of a King. He also qualified because he’s a son of a true bone.
*The Allies
Having a powerful ally will strengthen the claim of being a King. Park Young Shil, the most influential official encourage Sun Woo and he succeeded. On the other hand, the decision of Hwarangs also plays an important participation on which will be the King.
*The Inauguration- Is it Sun Woo or Ji Dwi Rang?
On the day of inaugurating the King, the opponents of the King are expecting success in replacing the true King. But it goes the other way. Instead of claiming the throne, Sun Woo together with the Hwarangs, hail Ji Dwi or King Jinheung as their King. Park Young Shil is accused of betrayal against the King.
Having the same thoughts for the betterment of Silla, Sun Woo decided to support his friend Ji Dwi. Sun-Woo and Ah Ro are back to each arm.
