The Story Itself

Pinocchio shows the life of reporters and the range of influence they have on people. Being a reporter is not easy. What we see in front of the camera is different from how the news is being gathered and aired. It takes a lot of time, hard work and effort to gather facts and come up with a worthy and truthful news. Intensive investigation is needed.

 In a snap, a news story could destroy the life of an innocent person. It also shows that a news or report could be manipulated dependent on the powerful individuals having a connection in the station. 

 After watching Pinocchio, you would more appreciate the reporters and everyone behind the news and how important the truth is in reporting.


PINOCCHIO STORY LINE

The firefighter's Tragedy

An explosion occurred in a factory causing the death of several firefighters. With the influence of news flow, the blame is put on Ki Ha-Myeong’s father, who’s the leader of the firemen and still missing. 

The bereaved family and sympathetic mass divert their anger on Ki Ha-Myeong’s family, which later on ruins the household. 

New life, New Name-From Ki Ha-Myeong to Choi Dal-Po 

With the rampant criticisms and without knowing whether his father is still alive or not, his mother decided to commit suicide together with him, leaving his older brother alone. 
Fortunately, Choi In-Ha’s grandfather, who lost his son 30 years ago, saved him. Starting from that, he lived as his lost son with the name of Choi Dal-Po.

Choi Dal-Po and In-ha live together with niece and uncle relationship. In- Ha has a distinct characteristic, the Pinocchio Syndrome.

When she lies, she hiccups. Growing up with In-ha (Park Shin-Hye), he developed feelings for her. But after knowing that, she’s the daughter of the reporter who ruins his family, he tries to keep distance and suppress his feelings for the girl but couldn’t help it. 

The Dream of Becoming a Reporter

In high school, he joined a game show, revealing his true intellect, the above normal intellectual capability. Seeing Dal-Po on the big screen, she decided to become a reporter. 

She applied as a reporter on TV Station, where her mother works. But in the panel interview, where her mother is included, she’s slammed by her telling that a Pinocchio can never become a reporter. 

In-Ha cried a lot after that and Dal-Po saw her. She’s in pain with insult she got from her own mother and knowing that it’s not her mother whom she texted for more than ten years.

The Field of Reporting

 Dal-Po decided to become a reporter with In-Ha.  In the process, Dal Po learned how difficult and complex it is to become one. In order to fulfill their duties, they worked hard including working in critical hours just to finish a story and get the truth out of it.  

He experienced failure, making him scared of his job and urged him to run away from it.  But, chose to continue reporting and repay his mistake by bringing not just a face of a story, but the whole of it.

He’s Brother is not the Person he Thinks Him to Be
The 3 men who are partly responsible for the death of his father and the destruction of his family, has been killed and one of those is still missing. It’s one of the news stories, he’s been following. He became scared knowing that the evidence points to his older brother. 

 For a long time of separation, Dal-Po ended up reporting for the crime committed by his brother. He promises that he will be the one to revenge on behalf of his brother. 

Together with his brother’s arrest is the loss of credibility of Song Cha-Ok, In-Ha’s mother. But it doesn’t end everything with that. 

Same Incident 15 Years Ago

Another factory explosion happened and the blame is put on an innocent police, a dearest friend of Dal-Po and In-Ha.

The range of the public is misdirected through the reports aired by In-Ha’s mother. Dal-Po, wanting to prevent history from repeating, do his best to investigate and discover who’s the real responsible for the explosion and loss of lives. 

Being shameful of what her mother has done, In-Ha do her best to help Dal-Po reveal the truth and they made it.

They’re able to clear their friend’s name and reveal the responsible persons behind it. They are the powerful persons in MSC Broadcasting Station, who includes In-Ha’s Mother, Seo Bum-Jo’s mother, and another powerful station official.

The real culprit behind the two similar incident
Behind the incident several years ago and the recent incident happened that also killed a lot of lives are the same greedy persons.

 With the increasing guilt and conscience caused by Dal-Po and In-Ha to Song Cha-Ok ( In-Ha’s mother), she becomes the whistleblower of what happened years ago.

She revealed that that incident happened due to the Chairwoman’s order. The report and investigation show that those incidents happened to cover up the huge mistakes of politicians close to the Chairwoman.

With the help Seo Bum-Jo, who’s in pain knowing the true color of his mother, the Chairwoman got the sentence she deserved. 

Instead of Revenge 
Instead of revenge, Dal- Po chose to reveal the truth as what a reporter does. It’s what makes him different from In-Ha’s mother. Song Cha-Ok decided to resign in the company to start a new life.

 On the other hand, he and In-Ha decided to reveal their relationship to their grandfather, who’s against the idea.  They waited for a long time to get his approval.
